Have you ever dreamed of playing the piano for a crowd of close friends, impressing them with your finger work and showing off your well-honed skills on the ivories? Learning any musical instrument takes time and effort. However, that does not mean you have to shelve your dreams due to lack of time, money, or energy. Piano lessons on DVD offer a new way to learn the basics at your own pace, in your own time!

Paying for a personal piano teacher can have its benefits. You get one on one learning from an experienced player who can visually and audibly demonstrate hand positions and songs. No book can provide this same level of up close and personal training. A piano lesson video, on the other hand, provides both of these things without the costs and time commitment of going to a piano instructor!

Do not go in blind. Rather than forking out large sums of money for your own baby grand, consider a smaller alternative to ensure this is something you truly want to learn. These come in a variety of styles and methods, so find one that best fits your lifestyle and learning needs.  Do not be afraid to research titles before settling on a specific title. You may have an easier time with the teaching methods used on one DVD rather than those used on other video piano lessons.

There are two types of piano lessons on DVD. The first uses chord lessons while the second uses note lessons.  If you are uncertain which would be best for you, choose a single program that offers both types of video piano lessons. It may be helpful to research ahead of time. Even then, attempting both methods will give you a feel for your best option. You want to spend less time agonizing over the learning process, and more time developing your skills. Choose the most efficient method for you! Many new learners choose the chord lessons first, opting to attempt the note lessons after they have become more familiar with the playing process.

The last, and one of the most important, things to remember when using DVD piano lessons is to make sure your piano or keyboard is set up close enough to a television and DVD player to see and hear the content. This should be considered before moving a heavy instrument into your home. Make sure you have an ideal position for your piano so you can view the instruction comfortably.  Having to crane your neck or hurt your back while trying to work through each lesson will only frustrate you further! Ensure your success with a comfortable place to work and learn that is piano lesson DVD-friendly!

After you have purchased an instrument, found the best set up and picked up your favorite piano lessons on DVD, you are ready to start playing! Remember, the rest is up to you. Learn at your own pace in the comfort of your own home. Practice makes perfect as you hone your skills. You can be the life of the party, tapping away at the ivories during your next social or holiday gathering!

You do not have to be musically inclined to learn a musical instrument. Anyone can learn to play piano. You just have to learn the right way. For you, that may be learning from a DVD.

DVD piano lessons are an excellent alternative for you to learn to play the piano. They are especially good for those who can’t afford to pay for expensive private lessons, or those who find lesson books hard to follow. A piano lesson video is the next best thing to having a live instructor.

Before you begin looking for a piano lesson DVD, you should probably consider getting a piano or keyboard. It will be very difficult to practice if you don’t. It usually isn’t a good idea to borrow someone else’s piano or keyboard, unless they allow you to keep it at your home. Otherwise, your practice time will be limited and you are not likely to be able to practice when it is convenient for you. Pianos can be found almost anywhere, even online, so invest the money. Once you can play proficiently, you’ll want your own piano, anyway.

Once you have your instrument, you will need to find a good piano lesson DVD. You will need to choose between chord lessons and note lessons. Many DVD programs are concentrated on only one type of playing, though there are some that feature lessons for both. Many piano students prefer to learn chords first, and take up notes later. The most important thing is to choose what is best for you and your goals.

If you have a DVD player at home, you are ready to start your lessons as soon as you have the DVD. The lessons included on the DVD will be presented in the order that they should be taken.
