Break Away II

You heard so many great musicians play; their music is just so alive and so delightful to listen to. Did it ever made you wonder why it is so? Did it ever came to you that they might be using a certain method that makes their piano playing so different compared to those of the others? But it’s definitely not. Playing the piano is just more than that. A certain method or any tactics wouldn’t be enough to play a very hard passage. That alone couldn’t give a major awe towards the many listeners.

Maybe it’s that distinct charisma of the pianist that plays a great role that draws attraction to the many listeners that has natural ears for music. But maybe not. It plays a vital role too but it’s not the major point that keys out to what is really the most important thing that a pianist should do. If only the music is aired out and the pianist is unseen, it would seem to be a bit not-that-important-at-all thing.

So what do you think is the major thing that a pianist must definitely have? What is it that makes their playing so alive than others? Years and years spent practicing doesn’t even contribute that much. The best players are those that play piano in their own artistic way without being so boastful about it. They just play piano because they love music and they are willing to share it to the people in their own humble way.

The best pianists are often not talking about their selves. They talk more about their music. How they play it and what makes them continue playing it. They don’t take the full honor just to theirs selves. It’s just that they are generous enough to play and let their beautiful music be known to others.  They are free to play delightfully in the sense that they are not controlled by their ego. They play from their heart and that is what matters most.

If you want to be a great piano player you have to let yourself be free from the thoughts of playing superbly in front of many people. You have to let the music take control. Beforehand, if you already say to yourself that you are a superb player or you are the worst, then you are setting yourself to fail. All you need is just a little boost of self confidence that can help you perform calmly in fornt of many people.

Do you know that Mozart didn’t write out his first drafts completely? Yes, because he felt so confident about that his music was the best and there is no need to do so.  Later on, he realized that he should not think that way. That’s when he knew how to let music rule over him and his draft became a real masterpiece.
