If you are a complete beginner or if you studied when you were a child and gave it up, to begin playing the keyboards or the piano you will have to have some sort of tuition. Which ever applies to you the method of learning to play remains the same.

Of the many different forms of teaching there are a lot of similarities common to them all. Even if you are learning using electronic keyboards instead of a normal piano, the lessons you will get will be virtually the same. The goal of most people who start with piano lessons today could be to be able to read music, to have the skills to play a little classical music, and often to be able to play in various styles like jazz, pop, rock etc. They might also want to learn how to accompany singers and other instrumentalist.

As a beginner, to have such ambition could appear a little ambitious but before you start your piano playing journey you will need to get clear what you want to get out of it. You will see that in a very short time you will be achieving most of the above.

Learn Piano Fast

A short while ago I had to write a review for a home study piano course called ‘Piano For All’, I really liked the method they used for teaching. To start with they teach you is how to recognize the notes on the keyboard. These same notes are then shown to you on the musical stave so you can go about familiarizing yourself with them. You are then taught what these notes look like on the musical staff. Then you are shown a simple melody which is to be played using all of the fingers, one for each key. This tune is written in musical notation and as a simple keyboard diagram

This part of the lesson is done in very little time. Now you get taught three notes with which you are able to play a basic chord. You are given a simple rhythm that you can play the chord to. You are instructed to play the fist note of the chord an octave lower with your other hand which gives you the bass. They give you a rhythm for the bass line and suddenly you find yourself playing a musical phrase that sounds good and isn’t difficult to play at all.

Here is a comparative review on the best piano courses available.

Try this chord for a while then move on and learn a couple of different chords. Now you have learned a handful of chords you can play them changing from one to another in order and you will realize that you are playing genuine piano songs or accompaniments. Learning this method is fantastic for the confidence and leaves you wanting to learn more. The course carries on teaching more different rhythms, more chords and melodies and each time you are shown how this is written musically. For each exercise you will see the notes you are playing written in keyboard diagrams and traditional musical notation. You will realize that you are suddenly playing keyboards or piano in much less time than you imagined.

In my opinion this way of learning is one of the best as it encompasses playing all styles of music from classical to pop, rock, jazz and gospel. It also verses you in reading music as well as playing by ear.
